Steve - The emphasis on "unarmed" is because that's the media narrative. So are we moving the goal posts again? The media narrative is about the RACISM of comparing deaths of black men (95% are men, with no one saying "sexism) by benchmarking to their population, but not behavior.

The officer's word? Look at the data? Or show me data how often police are lying compared to what the cameras or evidence picks up. I've only seen cherry-picked narratives.

So when 4 out of 10 cops are attacked with a knife or gun by BLACK suspects, don't be surprised when they're 25% of those killed by police. In fact, look at that data and COMMEND police for the many times they're NOT shooting people when they legally are justified.

Do people even comprehend that people make mistakes? Especially when making split second decisions? Here's what cops face every year: FBI data shows police are under threat with 2,400 firearm assaults & "57,180 officers were victims of line-of-duty assaults” a year?‬ Hundreds are directly shot and 50-100 killed by gun fire annually.

And that's why people are killed by police WITH or WITHOUT weapons when not obeying commands or orders. If a cop pulls a gun on you, put your hands up. Listen to orders.

It's not drug prohibition (which are 14% of arrests, according to the FBI, of both blacks and whites), it's living in a dangerous country where people shoot, stab and kill cops -- just as people shoot, stab and kill each other -- on a regular basis.

“In 2016, of the 57,180 officers assaulted while performing their duties, 28.9 percent were injured. The largest percentage of victim officers (32.2 percent) were assaulted while responding to disturbance calls. Assailants used personal weapons (hands, fists, feet, etc.) in 78.0 percent of the incidents, firearms in 4.2 percent of incidents, and knives or other cutting instruments in 1.9 percent of the incidents. Other types of dangerous weapons were used in 16.0 percent of assaults.”

MORE DATA ON VIOLENCE DIRECTED AT POLICE:

37% of cops are killed by black suspects from 2010-2019 (199 out of 537; “white” includes Hispanic):

39% of cops assaulted and injured by knife or firearm were by black offenders (2012-2016).

In 2015, The Washington Post reported 43% of police killers are black (an article I’ve never seen referenced by The Washington Post, New York Times, or any other major outlet). Washington Post: "There were 511 officers killed in felonious incidents and 540 offenders from 2004 to 2013, according to FBI reports. Among the total offenders, 52 percent were white, and 43 percent were black."

FBI - Table 44 Law Enforcement Officers Feloniously Killed:

Black offenders: 243

Total police killed: 565

50-60 cops annually are fatally shot in the line of duty in recent years.

Cops use lethal force around 2,000 times a year, killing 1,000 every year (25% black and 75% non black.) Compare to these facts below and let me know that cops are poorly trained and/or have bias against black people.

From 2007-2016 an average of 2,150 firearm assaults on police per year (10% injury rate, vests and, yes, training mostly protect them).
